Following her appointment by the GSM London Board earlier this year, Amanda Blackmore officially joined as the College’s new President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the start of July.
Amanda brings a wealth of experience to GSM London having played a major role in establishing BPP University as one of the UK’s leading alternative providers. She has held a variety of academic and leadership roles over the course of almost 20 years at BPP, playing a key role in establishing its law school as one of the most successful in the country. She has an outstanding track record of developing new programmes and commercial initiatives, has made major contributions to student recruitment and played a key role in establishing a range of corporate relationships. Amanda joined BPP following a successful career as a corporate tax and acquisitions lawyer.
“I am incredibly excited to be joining GSM London. I believe GSM is unique and aspirational in the sector in terms of the student body, widening participation and links to local communities.
“I’m looking forward to working with the wider team to enhance the student experience, identify potential new opportunities and find ways of best utilising the skills and talent within the organisation. Longer term, I would like to see GSM obtaining teaching degree awarding powers (TDAP), which will enable greater autonomy and opportunities for the College.”
Amanda is going to be working closely with Chris Holmes, who remains with the College as Chief Operations Officer Operating Officer (COO) following a period as Interim President and CEO. Chris will have specific responsibility for IT & Projects, Estates and HR.
