A team of GSM London students, selected from the Logistics and Operations Management (PM206) module at Level 5, gained valuable insight into the world of logistics during a whistle-stop trip to Castel San Pietro Terme, Italy between Wednesday 22 February 2017 and Friday 24 February 2017.
The team visited logistics company Arcese Group as part of a wider curriculum enhancement initiative within the department of Energy and Procurement. The Arcese Group has a global presence and operates in a range of sectors from the automotive industry to sectors in fashion. GSM students were invited to write a short email outlining why they wanted to be chosen for the trip.
“The idea was for the selected students to have the opportunity to see how a logistics company works,” said Baba Sheba, who heads GSM’s department of Energy and Procurement. As part of the tour, students visited the Arcese Group’s Ford warehouse.
This is not the first time GSM London students have visited the company. In 2016, students learnt about the company’s innovation and quality services. “Arcese Group were happy with the quality of our students and wanted to make the visits a regular feature of their calendar,” Dr Sheba said. “This type of trip provides students with insight into the options available to them in terms of employability and helps to expose them to the types of career traits that companies are looking for in prospective employees.”
