F4: Extenuating Circumstances

F4: Extenuating Circumstances

Extenuating Circumstances are defined as unforeseen circumstances that are beyond a student’s control, and have, or have the potential to, significantly impair their academic performance.

If you have experienced extenuating circumstances which have affected your ability to complete an assessment then you are advised to complete an Extenuating Circumstances Form.  The deadline for submitting this form is within 10 working days of the date of the assessment or exam; late claims will not normally be considered other than in highly exceptional circumstances.

You should provide as much written documentary evidence as possible to support your case (e.g. a medical note, police case notes etc.).  Student Advisory will be able to assist with any questions that you may have.

Effective From: July 2017
