Student Oyster Cards


What is a Student Oyster card?

A student oyster card is a travel card issued by TFL (Transport for London) which offers eligible students a 30% discounts on travel cards or season tickets. This is only available to full time students who live in Greater London during semester time.

How do I apply for an oyster card? You will need to apply through TFL directly online. You will need to pay a one of £20 fee via credit or debit card.

When do I submit?

Anytime whilst you are a student at GSM. It will only last until your course end date.

How long does it take?

The process can take up to 2 weeks for your application to be approved and oyster sent out. If you are a new student, we will be unable to confirm your application with TFL until you have attended classes.

How will I be notified?

TFL will send you an email with confirmation and you will receive your student oyster card directly from TFL by post.

What information do I need?

You need to know your student ID number, course start and end dates, an active email and a colour digital photo that shows your face and shoulders clearly.

Note: If you are a new student, we will be able to confirm your application once you have attended Induction or your first day of teaching.
