View Clearing as an opportunity!

If you’re worried you’ve left it too late to apply or missed out on the grades you wanted, look at Clearing as a huge opportunity! Thousands of students each year find a place on a degree programme that really suits their interests through Clearing.

Do your research

Most universities will publish lists of their available places on UCAS and on their website. Take a look and give them a ring if you’re interested, even if you don’t have your results yet. You can call us on 020 3733 1855.

Be flexible

Don’t just stick to the subjects or locations you were originally interested in. Thinking about different options could lead you to a brilliant subject that you’ll enjoy and unlock exciting career paths you’ve never thought about before.

Move quickly… but don’t feel pressured

Once you’ve found a course you're interested in, then get in touch with the institution quickly as places may fill up. Ask them how long they will hold your offer for, so that you have time to think and call other places too. Remember that you can gather more than one verbal offer on the phone from more than one location, but you can only choose one you definitely want to accept to put into the online UCAS Track system.

Prepare yourself to call

Gather together the information you need before ringing the university. Make sure you have your UCAS personal ID number, your Clearing number, exam results and the name of the course you’re interested in. Have answers ready for questions about why you want to study that course at that location, but make sure you get the chance to ask any questions you have too!
