Current BSc (Hons) Professional Management student Kayleigh Derby talks about her journey returning to education and how the first modules of the degree at GSM London eased her into it.
“The thought of undertaking an undergraduate degree in Professional Management really interested me, and I was excited to see how this would help with my career opportunities. However over time I started to doubt my abilities, going back into education at this level after a number of years out of studying was a very daunting prospect.
The first module I undertook was Professional Development Planning it is about reflecting on yourself and your career. After the first few classes, I was surprised how much I enjoyed learning and how the material applied to my role outside of the class. The second module was I undertook was Foundation for Learning, it prepares you on how to construction an academic essay or report and will show you how to reference academic journals etc.
Both of these modules have been helpful and prepared me with skills for my future module and degree.”
The Professional Management degree is part of the work based learning initiative at GSM London, that champions Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and tailors programmes to be relevant to each individual’s job role.
