Buckingham Palace summer opening: August 14th – 31st 2018

Ever wondered what the Queens room would look like? This is your opportunity to take a tour around the famous Buckingham Palace, while the royals are on a retreat. Every year the Royal House opens for public tours during August. This year’s latest addition to the tour is the Royal Gifts exhibition. Visitors can see some of the presents the Queen has been given during her reign. This summer Buckingham Palace will also pay tribute to Princess Diana, to mark the 20th anniversary of her death. Book your tickets to avoid queues.

Notting Hill Carnival: August 26th – 27th 2018

Don’t miss Europe’s biggest street party! Notting Hill Carnival hosted to over 1.5 million people last year. The event celebrates London’s multicultural background and today. The main parade starts in the morning near Westbourne Grove station featuring party buses, steel bands and glamorous dancers. If you’re an early bird head down to the carnival before the main parade and warm up for the day by covering yourself in chocolate and bright paint. If you don’t want to get messy join the Carnival on Sunday which is family day and enjoy the traditional food on offer.

Watch a movie on the Thames: August 14th – 31st 2018

London’s first and only floating cinema on the Thames returns this August. Take a cruise on the River Thames and settle in to watch a movie under the stars. Enjoy food and drink on an open deck boat, passing by some of London’s most iconic sights. Once the cruise is over and the sun goes down, you can find your seat on the upper deck to watch the movie. Book your ticket now for a unique film experience and choose from classic movies including ‘Dirty Dancing’, ‘Top Gun’ and ‘Jaws.’

South West Four Festival: August 25th 2018

Spend your bank holiday weekend at Clapham Common’s music festival. Dance along to dubstep club anthems, house and techno music, as well as top chart hits. South West Four Festival offers fans a mix of DJ sets and live performances across extravagant stages. This year’s line-up headliners include Dizzee Rascal, Marshmello and Chase & Status.

The Beach at Brent Cross: August 17th – September 2nd 2018

Didn’t get a beach holiday this summer? The Beach at Brent Cross brings an exciting take on the urban beach. Situated at Brent Cross shopping centre, this year’s Beach has more sand, more rides and more splash. It’s no Miami beach but there are artificial palm trees, inflatable paddling pools, huge rides and swinging hammocks. Take the kids or grab a friend and enjoy the rest of August with your feet sunk in sand!

‘Scoop: A wonderful ice Cream World’: August 14th – 30th September 2018

Welcome to the world of all things ice cream, an exhibition presented by The British Museum of Food. On show will be some of the unforgettable utensils and ice cream making equipment. Visitors can try fascinating ice cream flavours from smokey bacon to champagne. Please expect vanilla weather and glow in the dark ice cream. Find out more here.
