The National Union of Students (NUS) is to launch a new specialist body which will look to engage their members more fully as partners in the higher education sector.
As reported on by the official Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) website here, the new group, which is as yet unnamed, should launch as soon as the beginning of the next academic year, and will be jointly funded by the NUS and HECFE, as well as the Association of Colleges and GuildHE.
According to the HECFE’s statement on the matter, this innovative and much anticipated group will “support students’ active involvement as partners in the development, management and governance of their institution, its academic programmes and their enhancement, and in their own learning”.
Students at colleges in London and elsewhere have long been calling to be given the chance to interact more fully with the way in which their courses are delivered, and we at GSM London are amongst those institutions who have been leading the way in ensuring this happens more today than ever before.
