GSM London Events Student, Nicole Timmerman, finished 9th place in the annual My Event Vision competition.
My Event Vision is the competition where the best experienced students pitch their event ideas to an Advisory board; consisting of leading industry specialists, and supported by the company leaders in the Events sector.
Two students from GSM London, Nicole Timmerman and Natalie Frederick, entered the competition; with both placing well and Nicole finishing in 9th place – highly commended by the board.
Nicole is currently writing the dissertation for her Events Degree at GSM London. Nicole’s idea event proposal was called: EOS, exploring the universe and natural phenomenon – a festival where attendees could explore all the different elements of our universe. The staging was to be set up in a similar style to the international space station – with tunnels connecting themed areas.
In order to enter the competition, Nicole had to write an event proposal of 4,000 words – that began at the idea conception stage through to marketing and financials.
Talking to Nicole she stated: “I didn’t think I’d have a chance, so the result and being highly commended was a big surprise.” Advising future students looking to enter to “Go for it, as you never know what might happen”.
GSM London Events lecturer and pioneer of the GSM London OSAM approach Fotios Vasileiou, Programme Leader of Events Management, is “very happy with this accomplishment” and believes it is testament to all the hard work the Events students are putting in.
