The prestigious Simpson’s on the Strand restaurant in The Savoy Hotel saw the inaugural dinner organised by the student Oil & Gas Management Society take place on Friday last week. The dinner was a student initiative supported by GSM Careers.
Rona MacDonald, policy affairs manager for OPITO, the Oil & Gas Skills Council, attended and provided students with an insight into the issues facing the UK upstream oil and gas industry, and the labour requirements for the UK Continental Shelf. Rona also provided ideas for future speakers and collaboration.
Director of Careers & Employability Andrew Falconer attended the event, along with Employability Consultant Paul Cannons and members of academic staff. Andrew praised the students for taking the initiative to organise the black-tie dinner and is keen to support the new student society in the future.
