To ensure that students have first-hand experience of their chosen field, GSM London organises regular fieldtrips and visits – often as part of a subject module.
In November, students studying our Corporate Hospitality module attended the World Travel Market – an annual business-to-business event that allows global travel professionals to showcase their destinations. This was a fantastic opportunity for students to see how different organisations managed their corporate stands, to consider what worked and what didn’t, and to glean inspiration and ideas for their upcoming projects. They were accompanied by our Travel and Tourism students, who came to find out how companies from different parts of the world marketed themselves.
Corinna Chin, Module Leader explains: “Attending an event like this adds context to and brings to life theories that we discuss in the classroom. For example, Travel and Tourism students are asked to consider the differences between the established European tourism market and markets that are emerging – including Dubai and South America. Students can see for themselves how companies handle this difference and what they do to attract new tourists”.
