This month, our Events Management students tested out their skills in a ‘live’ environment. Employability and related work experience are key aspects of GSM London’s degrees, so this month – as part of their hospitality module – students visited Lingfield Park Resort in Surrey.
Lingfield Park Resort is not just a racetrack, it also hosts private events such as wedding celebrations and corporate receptions. Students were taken on a tour of the complex and had the opportunity to interview the managers responsible for hospitality. Teams of students then considered what they saw and made recommendations on how service quality can be improved – this will count towards their final coursework grade. In addition, Lingfield’s senior management are reviewing the recommendations and will include the best of these in the company’s Management of Service Quality.
It wasn’t all business though, as after the hard work was done, students were given a free day’s racing.
