We had the chance to sit down and talk with one of the UK’s best when it comes to the Korean Martial Arts ‘Taekwondo’. Sayed Khalid Gailini, who studies Business Management with Creative Industries at GSM London, gives us an insight into his life, training and motivation.
Why did you choose to study Business Management with Creative Industries?
I have in interest in design, graphic design in particular. Currently I am a freelance graphic designer, but after my degree I plan on going into the Graphic Design industry. Through this course, I’m learning all about the business aspect when it comes to working in a creative field.
What made you get into graphic design in the first place?
It all started when I was young. I had an interest in art, which lead me to get into graphic design.
Could you tell us more about your recent achievements in the art of Taekwondo?
I recently won gold at the BSTF (British Student Taekwondo Federation) tournament. I’ve been studying Taekwondo for the last 8 years. I’ve always had an interest in martial arts since I was young. It all started from watching martial arts movies. I would watch people like Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Bruce Lee and that’s what peaked my interest.
Could you tell us more about your training?
I think the reason I won gold was because of my constant training. I train 5 times a week. I’m constantly trying to improve myself to become a better player.
How do you feel winning gold?
This is the biggest competition I’ve been in. I feel really proud. It is a big accomplishment and it’s an amazing platform.
What’s next for you?
I hope to eventually open my own club and coach. Right now I want to continue competing for as long as a I can.
Why GSM London?
The fact that GSM London offers a degree in Business management with Creative Industries allows me to learn about the business side of doing something that I enjoy.
